Sound Dampening

Today's electronic audio sound technology is advancing at a tremendous pace, producing enormous amperage horsepower and crystal-clear sound from highs, mids, and lows. Whether it's a basic sound system with head unit, amp, and mid-range speakers in the doors and rear shelf, or a ground-shaking unit with multiple amp racks, tweeters, and a stack of breath-taking subwoofers, one major segment that is overlooked when creating the ultimate audio system is sound-dampening.

If a vehicle's interior surfaces are not properly insulated, the crisp separation of the high, mid, and bass tones becomes one-dimensional, muffled, and suppressed. These sound-dampening materials can help to absorb and deaden sound waves and eliminate reverberation and sound reflection, creating a richer sound.

Hush Mat's Ultra line of sound-dampening materials has been used by domestic automotive manufacturers for 15-plus years. During this period of time, Hush Mat has been able to refine and maximize its performance characteristics. The Hush Mat is created with a very pliable material with incredible adhesion properties that will adhere to the surface without surface preparation or heat, and it is easily cut to shape. With the Hush Mat's superior adhesion capabilities, it can form and grip to multiple, contoured surfaces. Hush Mat creates a barrier that eliminates vehicle squeaks, rattles, engine growl, and road noise.

We are excited about working with the team at Al & Ed's Autosound in Ontario, California, to create the perfect sound system for our project Big E Ford E-350 van. Darren Sprayberry, auto-sound engineer extraordinaire, is well known in the industry for building some of the wildest rolling, floating, and flying sound systems on the planet. When we rolled up in Big E, Darren salivated as he eyed the massive internal sound chamber with huge cubic feet of ground-shaking potential, but we'll get to that later.
