2007 Ford Sport Trac - One For The Show
An impression was made of the original factory front fascia of the Sport Trac, creating a reinforced female plug. Modifications were made from the original part that was pulled from the plug. The third-generation plug was used as the final mold.
After the final mold was pulled (separated) from the plug, Guillermo Domingues used fine sand paper to carefully remove any blemishes from the surface.
Following the meticulous mold preparation, Guillermo blew away any excess debris.
The entire mold surface was given a coat of mold release wax, before any gelcoat was applied; which allowed the part to be pulled (separated) from the mold.
After the mold release was given ample time to dry, the entire mold surface was then polished with a clean cloth.
Guillermo added MEKP to the gelcoat solution. It was then thoroughly mixed.
After mixing the gelcoat, Guillermo applied it to the final fascia mold by using a pneumatic spray gun. He made sure every inch was covered uniformly.
A ticker gelcoat was mixed, then applied by brush to the transitional radiuses of the mold for more reinforcement.
